This s what inspired us to build the "Bimmervitch." It's a 1970 Moskvitch 412 built for 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally.
The motor rally started at Wembley Stadium in London on 19 April 1970 and finished in Mexico City on 27 May 1970, covering approximately 16,000 miles (25,750 km) through Europe and South America.

Another big update. Parts have finally started to get bolted back INTO the car.
Fuel cell bolted in. It is 100% rock solid.
Wolff inspired me to clean up my transmission--but it didn't turn out nearly as nice as his.

Quick update, just more preparations being made before the car gets bolted back together.
Degreased the shifter plate and transmission mount tonight. One of the
mounting holes on the shifter plate had sheared away over the last
nearly three decades of the car's life. I welded in a big ol' washer to
allow us to be able to use the mounting bushing correctly, it looks
stout and I'm hoping it is in the correct enough location to work
properly. I might have to shim it to be sure.
