The first car that was part of KGB Racing was a 2000 BMW Z3 Coupe. 2,8 litter of pure BMW power :) That is the car that i took to my first autocross and it earned me a 3rd place in Novice Class in 2001. This was my first ever new car and my second BMW. This is also the only car i really miss.

Seat Mounting. Part 2. Wiring, Plumbing. |

The location of the starter panel isn't that much
of a reach for the shortest person I've had sit in the car, but Russ is
shorter still... we have already made a few adjustments to the panel to
allow easier access to the switch terminals.
Last night Glen, Kupper, and Rich went to the shop and started knocking
out the wiring harness. Kupper also plumbed the fuel system, so we now
have the carb connected to the fuel cell! The fuel pump is also wired
in. I continued to work on the seat mounting, and Russ will be happy to
know that we mercifully raised the seat a full inch from where it was
in the previous photographs. Rich also brought the steering wheel by,
which looks to be either a 290 or 310mm Momo Corsa, which is very tiny.
Wheel will be amazing for ingress/egress but I imagine the reduced size
will make the car a bit more exhausting to drive around the paddock.
Harnesses also came from the internets yesterday and I also have a
cheapo universal throttle linkage ready to install to the carb next time
I'm at the shop. Due to some parts availability, first crankover might
be delayed another week... but the happy news is that the car
mechanically and electrically will be 100% there. Drop in said parts
and vroom, we should be ready to tune and paint.

Kupper and I put in a few hours tonight after work. I'm still working out the seat mounting.
The issue is is that we have three huge dudes and then Russ. I'm 6'3",
Kupper is 6', Rich is 6', and Russ is 5'5". Fortunately, Russ seems to
have freaky alien legs and a short torso, which will work in our favor.
Somehow, Kupper and Russ' inseam is both 30"... although I think Russ
will still need to bring a seat cushion or two to clear the steering
wheel.
The biggest issue is my noggin. To meet the new roll cage clearance
rule, we needed to drop the seat down even lower. The end result is a
driving position that is great for Kupper, a little less great for me,
and probably going to be just manageable for Rich... and a sight line
that works for only me. We won't know until we get our momo installed,
but Kupper seems to think he'll be looking through the wheel. If thats
the case, he'll need a cushion, and so will Russ... or three.
Anyways, here are the modifications
The original seat mount made by the previous team. As was most of the
previous build, it is very heavy and crude. Mine will be lighter... and
crude.
